Windmill Dexters |
Windmill Dexters was created in 2001. We are located in a small town called Cache in southwest Oklahoma. As my wife will tell you , when I have a new interest it borders on obsession. So it has been with Dexters. Once I had bought my first one, I was hooked. The days of spending 4-5 hours mowing every week or two ended when they arrived. We have chosen to concentrate our breeding program on dun and red Dexters from a selection of animals from across the country. Having Dexters from Oregon, Texas, Virginia, Michigan and Oklahoma we strive to have a diverse genetic pool to breed from. Dexters are between 36" and 45" in height. Bulls will weigh from 650-950 lbs. Females will weigh from 500-750 lbs. Where larger breeds of cattle require 11-15 acres of land to raise, Dexters require 1-3 acres per animal. Dexter cows will produce between 1-2 gallons of milk daily. A Dexter will dress out at 60-65 percent body weight when raised for beef. With their easy calm nature, Dexters are a great asset to small acreage farms. For more information - email RichardM@WindMillDexters.com |
